The On the Job and Off Foundation
first responder lead, providing help that actually helps since 2018
The On the Job and Off Foundation strengthens the people and organizations responsible for responding when others are in crisis. Through education, clinical support, leadership development, and systems-level partnership, we help trauma-exposed professionals build sustainable careers and fuller lives.
Our Impact
We have already:
Provided over 1000 hours of free clinical care
Delivered over 500 in-person trainings nationwide
Delivered dozens of programs supporting families, leaders, and organizations
Trained trauma-exposed professionals in every state
The Problem
First responders, military professionals, health care workers, and other trauma-exposed professionals are routinely exposed to stress, trauma, and loss but too often, meaningful support is not accessible.
We exist to change that.
What We Do
Experience-Specific Education
Specialized Clinical Support
Leadership Development
Family Cohorts
Organizational Partnerships
Resilience is not built through a single training, clinical session, or crisis response. It is built over time through education, connection, leadership, support, strong systems, and a long-term commitment to the people doing the work.
The Resilience Continuum is our framework for supporting trauma-exposed professionals across the full course of their careers—from entry into the field through retirement and beyond. It brings together six connected pillars designed to strengthen individuals, families, leaders, and organizations.
Together, these six pillars create a more complete system of support—one that does not wait for people to break before offering help that actually helps.
How We Do It
Educate everyone. Support those who need it. Transform the culture.
Culturally competent care for the people who carry the most.
Frontline connects first responders, military members, trauma-exposed professionals, and their families with clinicians who understand the realities of service, repeated exposure, and high-stress work.
We help remove the barriers that often keep people from reaching out by offering access to trusted, trauma-informed care and, when funding allows, financial support for clinical sessions. This is not generic counseling or crisis-only intervention. It is care designed around the culture, demands, and lived experience of the people we serve.
Whether someone is navigating cumulative stress, a critical incident, relationship strain, grief, burnout, or the transition away from service, Frontline helps them take the next step toward support.
What Makes Frontline Different
Frontline is more than a list of therapists. We personally connect individuals and families with our in-house carefully-selected clinicians who understand emergency services, military culture, health care, cumulative trauma, and the realities of high-stress work.
Our support is proactive, confidential, and built around the whole person—not just the crisis that brought them through the door.
You do not have to wait until you are in crisis to ask for help. Over 1000 hours of free clinical care have already been provided.

“Great content that is geared toward the emergency services community. We will be requiring all personnel to complete this training to give them additional tools in their toolbox to cope with stress related issues.”

Feedback from Frontline
"I was connected with a counselor from On the Job and Off at a time when I really needed help. My grief included anger, irritability, breakdowns, and sleeplessness. I know now that reaching out for help does not make you weak, it takes a lot of courage to tell someone you don't know how to handle what you're going through. I want other first responders to know they can ask for help and that the help I got was exactly what I needed."
“I went from feeling powerless and out of control to steadfast. I’m now able to clearly see the big picture and know that I did the best that I could with the cards handed to me…which means continuing in the fire service.”
“I can recognize my stress reactions now and consciously tone them down.”
