Our Team
About Our Founder & Executive Director
A vision shaped by lived experience, professional expertise, and more than two decades of service.
The On the Job and Off Foundation was founded by Ali W. Rothrock, a former firefighter and EMT, certified crisis counselor, trauma educator, author, and nationally recognized speaker.
Ali’s work is rooted in firsthand experience with the impact trauma-exposed careers can have on identity, relationships, health, and life beyond the uniform. Her perspective is also shaped by her role as the spouse of a career firefighter who later became a United States Air Force Pararescueman. She understands both the demands of service and the stress, uncertainty, and fear carried by the families who love those serving in high-risk professions.
Her dual perspective guides the Foundation’s commitment to supporting individuals, families, leaders, and organizations—not only after a crisis, but throughout the full arc of a trauma-exposed career.
Ali is the author of Where Hope Lives and After Trauma, has delivered more than 500 presentations including a TedxTalk talk, and holds a master’s degree in Trauma and Resilience. Her work also extends across podcasts, digital media, publishing, and film and television development.
Today, Ali continues to guide the Foundation’s programs, partnerships, educational frameworks, and long-term vision, ensuring that every initiative remains grounded in lived experience, professional integrity, and deep respect for the people and families they serve.
The On the Job and Off Foundation is guided by leaders whose experience spans behavioral health, addiction psychiatry, human services, nonprofit finance, government, communications, and organizational strategy.
Together, our board and leadership team provide the expertise, oversight, and vision needed to build sustainable programs for first responders, military members, trauma-exposed professionals, and their families.
